The first iteration of our investigation into the correlation between views on language, Simon Baron-Cohen's Empathising-Systemising quotient, and political leanings with regard to social issues. The questionnaire has since been updated into Ver. II.
Chap Chye Png and Shakespeare, or, What is a Word? (2025)
A deep dive starting from an explanation for our common pronunciation of 什菜饭 as zá cài fàn. A look at the spoken as opposed to written apprehension of language in Shakespeare's time. Speculation about the identity of words, particularly homophones, between illiterate and literate speakers, and speakers of written versus unwritten languages.
